How I Met Your Mother Part 4

By now the characters will now sound confusing, so from now on I will assign them some letters or initials.

In the first six months of the A Levels programme, we had intensive English and we needed to wear school uniform. In the meantime, remember the girl that was feverishly writing essay during the interview? Well, I sort of went out with her. Let's call her G. I went out with G a few times, I even met her parents, fetched and sent her home. We were all barely 17 or 18 and I was an idiot when it came to girls or women (I still am by the way).

One day I saw G in her school uniform in class again writing feverishly. It was deja vu! I left her to her own devices. Soon I returned to class and noted a note on my desk. It was from G! Apparently, the note she feverishly wrote was for me! She was trying to let me down gently. Oh, before that, we used to exchange notes and letters. Sometimes, clumsily I attempt to write poems, to her amusement. Her command of English was better than mine.

Anyway, after a few months, that was that. Our relationship was over. Did I feel anything about it? No, not really. Somehow, she seems a little more distraught than I was and was a little annoyed that I was not really affected. Well, the thing is, I was from a boys' school and never really entertained any sort of feelings. I don't even know how to respond. Of course, I am attracted, I am a full-blooded male after all.

Life went on. We even did a comic sketch that I wrote for our seniors' drama night. It was so hilarious that it brought the house down. We took inspiration from Hindustani movies, P. Ramlee movies (a renowned director, actor, singer, writer, producer), Charlie Chaplin movies and some original ideas. The actors were my classmates and groupmates. And we had a grand time.

English exams came and went and soon it was time for our A Levels subjects. We studied French and English History, Economics, Financial and Cost Accounting. We were then streamed. G went to the first class, and I was in the second class. After all those months we were still awkward. There was no warmth. In the meantime, my attention went elsewhere. I just discovered the presence of other girls in other classes, girls from other programmes and later on juniors.

Oh, did I tell you that I bumped into the senior girl again, the one I was chummy with. To the consternation of her boyfriend, we were extremely chummy, and she turned out to be a real looker. At the same time my friend and I, let's call him A, did our thing by having our meals as close to these girls as possible. While we were "observing" these ladies, I had no idea that I too was being observed.

It was strange, there I was minding my own business, when during Open Day or Valentine's Day, I cannot recall, while I have no idea who to send flowers to, I received a few. Apparently, I had a few secret admirers. Some, I knew who they were, and some I totally have no idea, until now. In the meantime, I grew friendly with another friend, let's call him N. We had no idea at that time that our mothers went to the same school and were even friends. This N will play a very significant role in the future.

In the meantime, we had even further growing up to do. A Levels? Nope, I didn't have any girlfriend. Oh, I did hang around with another girl in another college whenever I visit her at her campus. I got to know her back when I was in school and St John Ambulance. Was she, my girlfriend? Nope, just a close friend. I was really hopeless; I still don't know how to feel.

Things started happening during A Levels. As usual I got really busy. Can't seem to help myself. Apart from the sketch that I wrote, I was also in Computer Club, I was preparing for a friend's election for the Students' Representative Council. And I was in other things too. The A Levels exam was looming large. A Levels was not easy, but it seems a breeze to some of my college mates. They are like real geniuses.
