May the Force Be with You? Live Long and Prosper?

Tomorrow is May the 4th, hence May the Fourth Be with You. But at the same time, I just binged on Star Trek : Picard. I have always wanted to see a reunion of sorts and Picard did well managing the reunion without being sappy along with a few new faces. New for TNG at least, that's The Next Generation for you non-Star Trek fans. But there's the fan favourite, 7 of 9 from Voyager.

I enjoyed watching Picard with the familiar faces, with Picard of course, Beverly Crusher, Will Riker, Deanna Troi, Data, Worf, Geordie La Forge. Absolutely brilliant.

I've been following Star Trek for a very long time. From the time of the original Star Trek right up till the Next Generation. I guess I was a fan of the USS Enterprise because I didn't really follow Deep Space 9, Voyager etc. I followed the tv series and the movies. Having Picard helped to heal the deep chasm I have. More than anyone will ever know.

These days my time is filled with work or with tv, I had Only Murders in the Building and then Star Trek : Picard. Soon OMITB will return with the 3rd season, so I will be occupied for a while. Or else I will watch reruns of Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory and even Cosby Show. Once in a while also I will need P Ramlee in my system and of course the other movies in my collection.

One thing I like about Picard is how they have framed for a potentially new spin off with a fresh new crew for USS Enterprise, along with characters that we have already invested in the likes of Captain 7 of 9, Commander Raffi Musiker, Ensign Jack Crusher and Ensign Sidney La Forge. There's one or two more new people but they don't register so I am not going to name themA good little distraction. Earlier, I was accompanied by my aunt and cousin who came from US. I took them almost everywhere while I made sure they sampled a few delicacies that Kota Bharu can offer. Well not just Kota Bharu, Tumpat too. I dropped them off at the airport this morning while I attended various meetings online.

But these days, attending these meetings seems like a razor blade nicking at my heart. Pretty soon I need to look for other things to do that can fulfill my needs and requirements while at the sametime being meaningful.

With things happening or happened to me I have becoming very cynical and suspicious of everything. Even those so called guru that claims, vows and declare that they are out to change our lives, everything they do comes with a price tag, so no, there's no free lunch. Not at all. Some of the webinars are actually just a campaign or a promotion for something else that eventually will involve getting money from us. Well, they sound convincing though and in the end for some of them THIS is actually their business, while those that they achieved earlier on make for some wonderful stories. Yes I am cynical.

In the end we just need to look out for that one person, ourself, because no one else will do it for us. So, watching Picard is a nice escapism with a team that is willing to put their lives on the line for each other. For many of us, I don't think we have that luxury although I do have a great group of friends and family that I can still turn to and they will do what they can to help.

And yes, I have not been writing for a while, with Ramadan and then Syawal and other things. I do hope that the things I am embarking in will bear some fruit. Only Allah knows best.
